About Us

Community Health Services and Development Officers Association (CHESOA) is a Professional Association established under Cap 108 of the Societies act as an umbrella body for Community Health in Kenya. CHESOA was registered in October 2017 by community health professionals offering services at Level 1 (Community Level). Since inception, we have a membership of 4394 across the country.

Key actors include Community Health Promoters, Community Health Committees, Community Health Officers (CHOs) and Assistants (CHAs), County and Sub County Community Health Services Coordinators and the Partners supporting/implementing community health activities.

Community Health Cadre (Community Health Officers/Assistants, Community Health Promoters and Community Health Committees) provide preventive, promotive services at the community and household level in Kenya. The cadre is responsible for delivery of Community Health Services in different Community Health Units across the country in line with the Health Act 2017, the Primary Health Care Act 2023, Community Health Policy 2020 – 2030 and Community Health Strategy 2020-2025.

The Association is actively involved in Advocacy, Public and Community Health Policy, Professional Development, Development of Career Progression Guidelines, Development of Scope of Practice as well as Resource and Networking opportunities for its members.

Mandate
